Grandma and Grandpa Sears Visit

Now that we live over 1400 miles away from our friends and family, we get to have visitors!

First up on the list were Grandma and Grandpa Sears. Gma Sears teaches school and Gpa Sears just got a promotion so they made the leap, booked tickets and came out in early August.

They were a little nervous Cal would not remember them, but right away he was happy and lovey and enjoyed his long weekend with his Grandparents.

Now as we all know Arizona is HOT! But this summer much of the country was hot so I guess we cant complain too much. However, there is a difference in being hot in a city that has a lot to do and places to see, and being hot in a city that has a lot of mountains and trails.

I have come to the realization that Phoenix is a great place to live if you like to hike, go to bars or shop. But if you have baby and cant do those things and would rather have some cheap family entertainment, you aren't going to find it here.

We made do though and had an awesome time.

They got in late Thursday so Calvin was already in bed, but we had a few drinks and hung out and watched the Olympics.

Friday we got up, played with Calvin and then we all got to witness him crawl for the first time. It was amazing, I love that we got to see happen and I may have gotten a little teary eyed.

After that we went to the Aquarium and Cal LOVED it. He talked to the fishes nonstop, banged on the glass and just thoroughly enjoyed being surrounded by the colors and shapes of the sea. I will be taking him there again for sure.

Saturday we went to Gymboree and Gma and Gpa got to do all the activities with Cal. They loved watching him with others kids and looking at his face while he was playing.

Then we went to see daddy's job site and have some lunch at one of our favorite places where Calvin had spicy queso and loved it.

Sunday we went to Ikea and spent about 2 hours walking around and getting little things for Cal and the house. We all could have spent alot longer and a lot more money, but our little was so tired and even feel asleep in Gpa's arms while still in the store.

Sunday night Kevin and I got to go on a date! We went to see Batman and then had sushi and martinis outside. It was a perfect night out and we knew Cal was in great hands.

Monday we just hung out and swam and had In n Out for lunch. Then before Gma and Gpa took off we went to another one of our favorite places, San Tan Brewery for dinner. We miss 75th street alot and this place does the trick when you need a great meal and an even better microbrew.

In between all of that we I, made some yummy meals, had alot of Limaritas, wine and good company and conversation.

The house felt very quiet and lonely on Tuesday when everyone went back home and Kevin went to work.
